Steel building quotes aren’t apples to apples. These are the four gaps we find most often, and each one shows up later as a change order, a failed permit, or a bill you didn’t plan for.
Ontario sets design snow and wind loads by municipality. A quote engineered to a lower load can price lower, then fail the permit review or need costly reinforcing.
Anchor bolt layouts, connection bolts, bracing and fasteners are sometimes “by others.” Check whether yours are in the price.
Shipping, fuel surcharges and offloading can add thousands. A quote that says “FOB plant” isn’t delivered to your site.
Thinner gauge panels, lower-grade framing, or no trim, flashing and closures make a quote look cheaper and the building perform worse.
